A Brief History

After beginning my career in graphic design, I began working in UX while earning my master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction from DePaul University in Chicago. Since then, I’ve been involved in a variety of research and design projects for a wide range of verticals.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Johnson Controls

May 2018 – Present
Senior UX Practitioner

  • Lead Researcher for a two-year engagement responsible for providing data to improve a key sales enablement platform. These efforts successfully improved the experience by providing an understanding of user goals and varifying working designs.

  • Designed experiences leveraging AI to assist users in maintaining healthy and safe building environments proactively. Prototypes I created served as a template for developers and a sales tool in pitching the product to customers.

  • Worked closely with leadership, development, PMs, and strategists to plan research & design efforts within the SAFe agile framework.

  • Completed research-based designs for various projects, employing wireframes, functioning prototypes, and high-fidelity visual design.

Laughlin-Constable

January 2015 to May 2018
UX Designer

  • Responsible for conducting various research projects to discover user needs and/or validate design work. Methods included interviews, heuristic evaluations, usability testing, secondary research, & workshops.

  • Developed wireframes, prototypes, and information architecture for clients in various verticals.

  • Presented deliverables to clients to ensure they understood the value brought to projects by research and design efforts.

  • Conducted research on leading-edge technologies to facilitate brainstorming sessions focused on bringing additional value to clients.

  • Researched and designed voice-interaction systems. 

Advertising Arts Studio

May 2006 to January 2015
Graphic Designer

Designed everything from corporate literature pieces to energy drink graphics. I was responsible for everything from the creative concepts to ensuring effective design solutions were developed. Illustration, photo direction, 3D animation, and occasional writing were tools I employed to ensure designs were as successful as they were unique.
